Mount Kasikasima

The impressive and mysterious Mount Kasikasima lies at a straight line distance of 65 km from the village Palumeu. Mount Kasikasima is a mountain in south east of Suriname near the famous Palumeu river. It has a height of almost 728 Meters and consists of about 10 mountain peaks. This mountain can be visited through the Amerindian village called Palumeu which is about 250 KM south of Paramaribo. Visiting kasikasima can only be done by air. At the Palumeu village a local tour operator has setup a nature resort with all the facilities you need for you comfort. Palumeu also has the role of base camp from which several nature attractions can be visited.

Nieuw-Nickerie

Nieuw-Nickerie is the third largest city in Suriname (after Paramaribo and Lelydorp), with a population of little over the 13,000, and it is located in Nickerie district. It lies on the mouth of the Nickerie river on the Atlantic coast, opposite the mouth of the Corantijn river (Courantyne) and the Guyanese town of Corriverton (Springlands), to which a ferry service operates. The main industries are bananas and rice. The town contains a market and several hotels, including the Hotel Ameerali, Hotel de President, Hotel Tropical, Hotel de Vesting and Residence Inn.

Saramacca River

Saramacca River is a river in Suriname (estuary located at around 5.85° N 55.8833333° W). It originates in the Wilhelmina Mountains and flows northwards and enters the Atlantic Ocean together with Coppename River. It has a river basin of 9.400 km² and length of 255 km. Saramacca River is used for water transport. Scientific exploration of the river began in the 1770s. Arawaks named this river "Surama", today's name "Saramacca" is probably derived from it.
